Research and Technology Leap of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences on the 47th Anniversary of the Islamic Revolution

Over the past year, the Vice-Chancellery for Research and Technology of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences has taken significant strides in fulfilling its mission-oriented goals and enhancing its scientific standing, achieving remarkable accomplishments in international arenas, capital attraction, development of advanced infrastructure, and advancement of novel health technologies.

According to the Public Relations Office of the Vice-Chancellery for Research and Technology of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology elaborated on some of the achievements of this office on the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

Dr. Hamid Mohammadi, pointing to the mission-oriented approach and rapid progress of this vice-chancellery, announced that through the prudence and efforts of colleagues, the university's position in prestigious international rankings such as Times and QS has improved, and planning is underway to update indicators for the 2026 rankings.

He reported the commencement of construction operations and progress in building the Health Science and Technology Park, as well as the launch of a product manufacturing line at the Health Science and Technology Park site, adding that the park is ready to attract production investments in the biotechnology sector.

The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences stated that the volume of industry collaboration has increased by 300%, adding that through this channel, over 25 billion tomans worth of industry-linked research projects have been secured.

Dr. Mohammadi also noted that the renovation of the central laboratory and the construction of an imaging room for the animal laboratory have been carried out with an investment of over 2 billion tomans to strengthen research infrastructure.

The official at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences referred to the significant attraction of research and technology funding, stating that external funding for research and technology infrastructure has reached nearly 100 billion tomans.

He continued: These funds include 38 billion tomans in government budget, 40 billion tomans for the development of high-tech products, 16 billion tomans in technology grants from the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology, 2 billion tomans in contracts with the Charity Association, and 3 billion tomans in contracts with Zagros Petrochemical Company.

According to Dr. Mohammadi, projects supported by the Iran National Science Foundation have grown by 250%, and university technology projects have increased by 80%.

He also cited the launch of a comprehensive grant system within the Pajoohyar platform, grading of ethics codes, establishment of Fast Track infrastructure, updating the university publication system, launching POD and e-books, and providing access to research databases for researchers as other transformative measures.

The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences concluded: These achievements are the fruit of the high dedication of the university's researchers and technologists, paving the way for the realization of even greater goals in the years to come.
